The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) introduced improved remodel regulations, which might affect older Main Line homes . For contractors taking part in remodels on houses built before 1978, the EPA requires lead training, certification, and safe work practice requirements. Their goal is to get rid of the public health worry of lead poisoning by the year 2010.

Lead was used for so many years in paint and is an especially toxic metal. Children under the age of six are most at risk because their nervous systems have not fully developed. A slew of health problems can affect anyone. If you have any questions regarding lead in your home, contact Main Line real estate .

There are many things you can do to lower the electricity bill of your Main Line home . With lamps that are turned on for more than two hours per day, you can switch to compact fluorescent bulbs. Fluorescent bulbs will last 10-20 times longer than regular bulbs and are 6-8 times more efficient.

When they are not in use, unplug devices such as stereos or coffee grinders. They still use juice, even while they aren't in use. While cooking small items that don't need to be pre-heated, use an energy efficient microwave or toaster oven.

When you are through with using your computer, switch it off or onto "standby" mode. You will reduce the cost of operating a computer by 85 percent by using a laptop as opposed to a desktop. Don't open up your fridge door often or for long periods of time and adjust the temperature on 38-40 degrees Fahrenheit.

Finally, wash your clothes in cold water, only use the dryer for full loads, and if possible, line dry. By beginning with these little steps, you are going to save money on your bills and lower your CO2 emissions.

Cell phone towers nearby Main Line homes proves to be an inconsistent battle. The majority want better cell phone coverage and don't want their calls dropped. However, a lot of communities do not want cell towers in their neighborhoods. Towers are an eyesore and might diminish property worth. To work properly, a cell tower needs to be in sight. Above the tree lines, an ugly, enormous piece of steel must be put in. This is OK for an urban setting, but doesn't fit well into a community layout.

To fix this, companies began putting towers in that look like trees. Although, there isn't anybody that is tricked by a steel tree. When deliberating towers with neighborhoods, cell phone companies need to be sensitive and open. It is possible to win a battle against cell phone companies, Main Line residents have to remember this. Both sides can get what they want when they go into the situation with a team mind set.

Toll Brothers, the number one company in luxury homebuilders, announced a decline in new home construction. Shares fell, from $1.27 to $1.07 per share. Top executives claim the drop is due to homebuilders who have built too much and speculative buyers who are now sellers.

Toll Brother's is "well prepared" to deal with such a situation. There are still so many great Main Line homes out there, so there's no need to worry.

Prior to putting in an upstairs laundry room in your Main Line home , you have to do some meticulous planning. If the job is executed improperly, you could face water damage or structural difficulties.

To ensure that your house will sustain the extra weight and vibrations from a washer and dryer, it is best to bring in an architect and possibly even a structural engineer. A floor drain and electronic shutoff valve, which will consequently block the flow of water in case of a leak, is a great way to avoid water damage from flooding.

The priciest part of the job is going to be putting in a dedicated electric and gas line. Lastly, do your research to look for the most energy efficient and quiet appliances. By following these simple steps, you will be able to safely add upstairs laundry and increase the price value of your Main Line home .
